Programs that offer a general program of exercise for people who are concerned about maintaining their physical fitness which may include walking, stretching and other similar activities.

 

Services

Offers free programs for girls, non-binary and gender-fluid youth.  Programs designed to build leadership, self-confidence, resiliency, positive relationships and teamwork.  Includes exercises that promote physical activity, nutrition and healthy eating, personal health and well-being.

Exercise program designed for Children's Developmental Rehabilitation Program (CDRP) clients over the age of 10.  Services include goal setting and individualized exercise plans.  Offers support from a Recreation Therapist, Social Worker, CDRP physiotherapist, YMCA staff and volunteer.  Clients m

A low-impact exercise class that uses Activator walking poles. Exercises designed to reduce impact on joints while improving upper body strength and coordination.

An exercise program designed for people with a spinal cord injury or mobility impairment. 

This program allows participants to access:

Program designed for people with chronic bone and joint health problems such as osteoporosis and arthritis. It is also appropriate for those wanting to improve their health before and after having hip or knee replacement surgery. 

Participants may access:

A 14-week program designed for people ages 60 and older. Offers exercises designed to improve cognitive function, mobility, balance and strength. 

Offered through partnership between YMCA and the GERAS Centre for Aging Research at Hamilton Health Sciences. 

12-week supervised exercise and education program for people with cancer. Offers exercises to help improve strength, endurance and range of motion.

The exercise and falls prevention initiative supports Ontario's Action Plan for Health Care, specifically the focus on supporting seniors to stay healthy and stay at home longer, reducing the strain on hospitals and long-term care homes.

Provides community support and case management services to at-risk pregnant and parenting youth.

A cardiac care program offering patients three streams of supervised exercise and education based on their stage of rehabilitation.

A 12-week program designed to help people recover from a stroke. Offers exercises aimed at improving mobility, strength, balance, gait, and coordination. Includes educational sessions based on the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Living with Stroke program. 

Program designed for individuals with Type 2 Diabetes, as well as those at risk for developing diabetes. Participants learn strategies to help manage nutrition, blood sugar, weight, and medications. 

A community-based exercise program for people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Participants are prescribed individual exercise programs that follow the physical activity guidelines for people with MS.
