Programs that offer a general program of exercise for people who are concerned about maintaining their physical fitness which may include walking, stretching and other similar activities.

 

Services

Municipal seniors programming.

Offers free drop-in fitness programs. All programs are capped at 20 participants each. Children under 7 years old must be accompanied by an adult 18+ yrs. All programs are conducted in an indoor space unless otherwise posted.

Programs include:

YWCA offers a variety of classes and programs focused on health, wellness, and physical fitness.  Visit the website for a list of all available programs and the program schedule.

Offers a variety of sports and physical activity programs for children ages 6 to 12. Programs include: dance, gymnastics, soccer, and physical health education.

All programs are offered virtually using Zoom and require a computer or other device and access to the internet.

Offers a wide range of registered and drop-in gender inclusive programs for children ages 6 to 16. All programs offer a variety of activities that facilitate conversations around gender centred issues and provide opportunities to build confidence, self-esteem, and self-advocacy.

Boys and Girls Clubs offer a variety of online programs for children and youth in Hamilton.

Programs range from recreational, active, sports, and education.

Offers free programs for girls, non-binary and gender-fluid youth.  Programs designed to build leadership, self-confidence, resiliency, positive relationships and teamwork.  Includes exercises that promote physical activity, nutrition and healthy eating, personal health and well-being.

A youth-led collective that supports the voices of young women, non-binary, and gender fluid in Hamilton. Offers events, workshops, art, and movement events, including:

The exercise and falls prevention initiative supports Ontario's Action Plan for Health Care, specifically the focus on supporting seniors to stay healthy and stay at home longer, reducing the strain on hospitals and long-term care homes.

Provides community support and case management services to at-risk pregnant and parenting youth.
Services include:

  • counselling
  • prenatal education
  • strollerfit and exercise programs
  • community referrals

A community-based exercise program for people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Participants are prescribed individual exercise programs that follow the physical activity guidelines for people with MS.

YMCA offers a variety of Health & Fitness Classes and LiveWell Programs, including:

Offers exercise classes for older adults. Classes offered to suit a range of physical abilities. 

Fitness centre equipped with Keiser low-impact weight training equipment, designed specifically for seniors.

Research facility dedicated to improving the lives of seniors living with complex medical needs.  Focuses on improving quality of life, accelerating innovative solutions, and developing programs to support seniors and families.  Programs include:

Provides affordable programs and services for adults age 55 and older at varying locations.

A series of free 12-week exercise programs designed to help seniors stay healthy, safe and strong and promote improved balance, improved strength with prevention of muscle loss, maintenance of strong bones and increased overall independence. 

Program levels include:

Chair-based exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and balance. Various equipment is used to achieve these goals including resistance bands, small hand weights and exercise balls. This program is suitable for all levels of fitness.

LHIN funded, year round exercise program and fall prevention education to improve general health and to help seniors remain safe and independent. Classes are available to the public and offered on a weekly basis.

Three levels of classes are offered to meet a range of activity needs.
