Immigrant/Refugee Employment Programs

Programs that provide comprehensive support services for immigrants and refugees who need assistance to prepare for, find and retain paid employment. Services may include vocational assessment, job search assistance, professional mentoring programs and other levels of initial and ongoing support. The emphasis is on preparing individuals for the expectations of employment in a new country and in particular, to obtain recognition for professional experience secured in another country and to obtain initial work experience in their new country.

Five week employment training and development program for newcomer youth and adults.

Program that supports Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) with their nursing journey in Ontario by providing a case management approach, and helping with the development of an individualized learning plan to meet their learning needs, thereby enhancing their communication and clinical nursing s

Provides Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) with the one-on-one case management, language and communication skills, exam preparation, professional development, mentoring and networking to be successful in the nursing profession. 

A 6 to 8 week program to help newcomers improve their English and prepare for the workplace. Services include:

Hamilton Mountain location of the Immigrants Working Centre.

East Hamilton location of the Immigrants Working Centre.

Downtown location of the Immigrants Working Centre in Hamilton.

Main Street site and Head Office of the Immigrants Working Centre in Hamilton.

Employment-focused settlement agency for immigrants and newcomer families located in Hamilton, Ontario.

Supports the successful settlement and integration of newcomers by providing newcomers with appropriate and timely information and referrals to government programs and community services.

Services include: 

A free program designed for Internationally Trained Professionals. Offered to qualified newcomers that have education and work experience from their country but have not yet worked in their field in Canada. Courses are delivered over 12 weeks and help individuals:
