Provides adoption and fostering education programs, home studies, adoption placement of children, kinship adoption, post-placement counselling and support, and fulfillment of legal requirements to finalize placement of children for adoption.
A youth worker from the John Howard Society is assigned to the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board to provide the following functions in the suspension/expulsion program:
Offers legal support and forms assistance to help transgender individuals through the process of legally changing their name and sex designation on Ontario and Canada government IDs, birth certificates, and other records.
Provides free snacks and light meals on weekends to youth, as well as dinner from 4pm-7pm.
Helps individuals with a developmental disability stay involved in their communities and live as independently as possible by providing direct funding for community participation services and supports, activities of daily living, and person-direct
Offers a variety of mental health related outpatient services for children and youth age 17 and younger.
Provides employment support for general trades and connects them with industry employers for work placements. This program runs for approximately 30 weeks. Participants are provided with personal protective equipment and a basic tool kit.
