Volunteers serve throughout Hamilton Health Sciences' hospitals and provide non-medical support and companionship to inpatients and outpatients.
Out of home hospice day program. Offers programs rest, relaxation, supportive relationships, recreation and a three-course homemade meal for adults who are living with a life-threatening illness.
Provides bereavement support groups for those that have lost a loved one through death. Support groups are offered in eight week sessions as well as weekly or monthly and are available for spousal loss, adult loss, suicide loss, and teen loss.
One-on-one financial counselling and financial literacy support.
Services include:
Offers support to women who have been exposed to abuse and violence, whether physical, sexual, emotional, or financial. Programs provide knowledge and understanding of abuse, safety planning, and access to community resources.
Provides financial assistance on behalf of deceased Hamilton residents who do not have sufficient funds in their estate to fully cover the cost of a basic funeral, burial and/or cremation.
Assists new mothers and babies (up to 6 weeks) with breastfeeding during their hospital stay and provides support and assistance after discharge both in the clinic and over the telephone. Visits are by appointment only.
Specially trained volunteers offer companionship, respite for caregivers, connection to palliative resources, and/or outings for adults and children. Support is provided through one-on-one visits with residents.
A recreational baseball program for youth designed to support skill development, physical fitness and teamwork.
