Offers a series of free public lectures in fields of literature, science, and music. One of the public talks, named in recognition of Dr. John Rae, honours Rae's connection to the Canadian landscape by focusing on a topic related to the Canadian North or the spirit of exploration. Also encourages interest among young people in literature and science by providing annual awards for local youth; will occasionally sponsor a special event, tour, or lecture in addition to regular scheduled events.
