Senior Ride Programs

Programs that provide door-to-door (or curb-to-curb) transportation for purposes of medical appointments, shopping, banking, social events, and other similar activities for older adults who need special accommodations and are unable to utilize other available means of transportation.

 

Services

Glanbrook Community Services offers a monthly door-to-door pick-up for shopping at the Elfrida Walmart shopping Centre and trips to various events in the City of Hamilton and other municipalities.  Limited spaces available.

Community bus picks up seniors in Waterdown on a scheduled route and takes them to shop at the Burlington Mall or Mapleview Mall in Burlington. Runs every other Tuesday.

Glanbrook Community Services provides participants with transportation services to medical appointments, dental appointments, errands, to visit friends, grocery and general shopping. Drivers will wait and can assist participants with purchases.

Offers door-to-door transportation to appointments, for those unable to use public transportation or private means. An escort may join client at no extra cost.

Provides subsidized rides for people with disabilities through regular and accessible taxis. Coupons are sold in books that contain $40 value in vouchers, and participants may purchase up to three books each month.

Non-profit community organization that assists seniors and disabled persons to remain independent and in their homes.

A free bus service for seniors to local grocery stores every two weeks for tenants in seniors' apartments. Pick-up locations are located throughout the city. Please call for details.

This is a partnership between Wesley, Danny's No Frills, Fortinos, and the HSR.

Provides transportation to shopping centers every other Friday for seniors who do not drive. The shopping locations are: Food Basics Plaza in Ancaster and Walmart Plaza in Waterdown.

Provides round-trip transportation for a grocery shopping outing every other Friday. DARTS Transit picks up clients at their door/entrance and transports them to Fortinos, Walmart, Longo's, or the Farmer's Market in Ancaster (destinations vary by week).

A non-emergency, door-to-door transportation service within the city of Hamilton. Volunteer drivers accompany clients to and from medical appointments and grocery shopping.
