Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

Programs that provide transportation for medical appointments, trips from and between hospitals, to nursing homes or other special-care centers or for other non-emergency medical needs for individuals who, because of financial problems or their physical condition, are unable to use other means of local transportation. NEMT service providers are able to transport riders who require a wheelchair lift equipped vehicle with appropriate protective restraints or a van that is designed for gurney/stretcher transportation, or has other types of features to meet their safety needs.



Assists eligible clients with their short-term travel to attend their cancer-specific medical appointments or supportive care services delivered by a professional recognized by Ontario's Health Care System. Services available to individuals or a whole family.

Provides medical transportation to Indigenous Seniors, those with early on-set aging, and those with complex physical disabilities. Clients can be picked up and dropped off to any medical appointments within the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant LHIN catchment area.

Provides non-emergency assisted transportation for individuals who are physically or cognitively disabled * offers continuous companion services for individuals who may need additional help or supervision * wheelchair transportation staff all have standard first aid and CPR/AED level C

Provides community support services to urban Aboriginal clients, regardless of age, who are disabled, chronically ill, frail, elderly or require acute/chronic continuum of care.

Program designed to support clients who are in the process of arranging more permanent transportation such as D.A.R.T.S or have limited or no other means of transportation. This program relies on volunteers to drive seniors to medical (or medical related) appointments and bring them home.

Glanbrook Community Services provides participants with transportation services to medical appointments, dental appointments, errands, to visit friends, grocery and general shopping. Drivers will wait and can assist participants with purchases.

Offers door-to-door transportation to appointments, for those unable to use public transportation or private means. An escort may join client at no extra cost.

Non-profit community organization that assists seniors and disabled persons to remain independent and in their homes.

A non-emergency, door-to-door transportation service within the city of Hamilton. Volunteer drivers accompany clients to and from medical appointments and grocery shopping.

Caregiver program offering the opportunity for clients to share common experiences and foster relationships with companions who are close in age. Services include: drop-in companions, live-in companions, overnight assistance, house cleaners and driver companions.
