Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

Programs that provide transportation for medical appointments, trips from and between hospitals, to nursing homes or other special-care centers or for other non-emergency medical needs for individuals who, because of financial problems or their physical condition, are unable to use other means of local transportation. NEMT service providers are able to transport riders who require a wheelchair lift equipped vehicle with appropriate protective restraints or a van that is designed for gurney/stretcher transportation, or has other types of features to meet their safety needs.

 

Services

Transportation is available, free of charge, to and from cancer-related medical appointments. All rides coordinated through CAP’s Drive & Ride program are provided by compassionate and trained volunteers.

Provides transportation to and from non-emergency medical appointments, grocery shopping, adult day programs, to run errands, or to other appointments or social outings. Program is delivered on a first-come, first-serve basis, and a minimum of 3 business days' notice is required.

Provides ambulances for non-emergency medical transfers.

An ambulance communication service provided by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Emergency Health Services Branch.

Assists eligible clients with their short-term travel to attend their cancer-specific medical appointments or supportive care services delivered by a professional recognized by Ontario's Health Care System.  Services available to individuals or a whole family.  Opportunities for volunteer drivers

This program is designed to support Ancaster clients who have limited or no means of transportation to get to and from medical and/or professional appointments within the Ancaster/Dundas/Hamilton area. This program relies on volunteers to drive seniors to appointments and bring them home.

Glanbrook Community Services provides participants with transportation services to medical appointments, dental appointments, errands, to visit friends, grocery and general shopping. Drivers will wait and can assist participants with purchases.

Offers door-to-door transportation to appointments for those with limited to no access to transportation. A caregiver may travel with the client at no extra cost. A minimum of 3 days notice is requested in order to book.  

Non-profit community organization that assists seniors and disabled persons to remain independent and in their homes. Services include: 

A non-emergency, door-to-door transportation service. Volunteer drivers accompany clients to and from medical appointments and grocery shopping.
