Adult Out of Home Respite Care

Programs that provide a brief period of rest or relief for family members, guardians or others who are regular caregivers for dependent adults by offering temporary or intermittent care for the adult in a community setting/facility.

 

Services

S.A.I.L Special Needs Services provides both in-home and out-of-home respite services for people with disabilities. Programs include behavioral supports, one-on-one assistance, and day program supports.

Community Living Hamilton offers a variety of respite services, including day trips, overnight stays, and cottage vacations for adults and children with developmental disabilities, fostering social interaction, friendships, and personal growth, as well as providing caregivers with peace, security

Offers a range of programs to individuals living with developmental disabilities that help make new friends, improve old relationships, connect to services, or build new skills.

Services include:

Centres where seniors, people with intellectual or cognitive challenges, or people with chronic conditions can receive overnight respite care in a home-like setting, allowing caregivers temporary relief from their caregiving responsibilities.

A faith-based organization serving people with developmental disabilities and their families in Ontario. Offers residential and retreat facilities.

Services include: 

Adult day program, providing social, recreational, and therapeutic activities for older adults and people with disabilities in a group setting for part of the day. Helps to support family caregivers who provide day-to-day care.

Integrated day program for frail elderly, adults with special needs and individuals with Alzheimer Disease or other dementias. 
Day program for adults who require some physical, social or emotional support to remain in the community.

Out of home hospice day program. Offers programs rest, relaxation, supportive relationships, recreation and a three-course homemade meal for adults who are living with a life-threatening illness.

Hospice or palliative care volunteer visitors are specially trained, caring volunteers who visit with clients and their families to support them through a life-limiting or end-of-life journey. They offer compassion, emotional support, companionship, as well as respite support for caregivers. 

Delivering engaging recreational activities outside the home that promote health and wellness, build self-esteem, empowerment and social connections geared to both younger and older adults. The following is a list of Community Participation Day Programs currently offered by YWCA Hamilton:
