Community Volunteer Income Tax Program
Offers volunteers who assist individuals who are unable to complete income tax and benefit returns.
These returns are not eligible for this service:
returns for deceased persons
individuals who file for bankruptcy
self-employed individuals
individuals who report capital gains or losses
individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses
Volunteer tax preparation clinics are offered in various locations across Canada, generally between February and April of each year. Some clinics operate year-round.
Eligibility
Age 18 years and older; * Single person whose income is under $25,000
* Married/couple, or single parent with one child, whose income is under $35,000
* Add $2,000 per child to ($35,000) for basic family income
* If married or living common-law applicant must provide the spouse's income
* Interest Income less than $1,000
Application
Appointments for housebound individuals only can be booked beginning in mid February.
