PAWS Vet Care Subsidies

Provides subsidies for needed veterinary care to people who are unable to afford the cost of required, medically necessary procedures for their cats or dogs. Funds preventive care such as spays/neuters, vaccinations, and parasite controls, as well as essential and urgent medical care.

Eligibility

Open to people who live in Hamilton, Brant, Middlesex, or Waterloo counties, who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • meet the CRA's low income cutoff criteria (table available on website)
  • be a resident of a temporary shelter, including women's and homeless shelters
  • be a person in crisis, including homelessness, fleeing violence, temporary care in a medical facility (including mental health), addiction treatment in a residential facility
  • receiving government assistance, including GIS, ODSP, CPP Disability, OW, OSAP

Application Instructions

Application form is available online. Proof of income and/or government assistance programs are required.  A pet owner may apply for a maximum of two animals, and a separate form is required for each animal.
