Ontario provincial program that provides temporary financial and employment assistance for people who are in financial need.

Assistance includes:

  • monthly allowance based on family size, housing costs, and income
  • prescription drug coverage under the Ontario Drug Benefit Program
  • health benefits may include dentures, emergency dental services, eyeglasses, prosthetic devices, funerals, and burials
  • employment start-up benefit

Eligibility

To qualify for Ontario Works financial assistance, applicants must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • be an Ontario resident
  • have assets no greater than the limits set out in the program
  • be in financial need
  • participate in employment activities
