Water Quality Information/Reporting

Programs that prepare and issue reports that provide information about overall quality of local surface waters and groundwater. The reports include chemical, physical, biological, habitat and toxicity data on rivers and streams, inland lakes, reservoirs and other bodies of water as well as groundwater. Water quality conditions are assessed in terms of the degree to which water attains its designated use, e.g., for drinking, swimming, farming, fish production or industrial processes. The reports are an important tool for understanding the health of local waters and for identifying actions that can be taken to improve water quality within the jurisdiction. These programs may also answer consumer questions about local water quality; or provide fact sheets and other materials addressing local water quality issues.
