Environmental Beautification

Programs that enhance the aesthetic characteristics of the urban built environment and natural surroundings by acquiring and preserving open spaces for public enjoyment; planting trees, flowers, shrubs and ground cover in public places; controlling outdoor advertising signs, billboards and displays; controlling the establishment, use and maintenance of junkyards; developing and implementing anti-litter campaigns; cleaning up nature trails, rivers and streams; and engaging in other environmental beautification activities.

 

Services

Holds a number of annual events that count on community volunteers to participate and aid in cleaning, stream rehabilitation, and native tree and shrub plantings.

Responsible for the management of the city's real estate assets and real estate portfolios, which includes the leasing, acquisition, and disposition of properties, site improvements, environmental audits, and the delivery of efficient and effective real estate and property management services.

Recognizes those residents who, by landscaping and maintaining their property, have contributed to a more attractive neighbourhood and community. Flamborough Horticultural Society operates the Trillium Awards Program for Wards 14 & 15.
