Wilderness Conservation
Programs that are responsible for the administration of federal policies which authorize the acquisition, preservation and management of designated "wilderness areas" through a National Parks System which protects natural environments representative of CanadaÂ’s natural heritage. Wilderness areas are defined as sanctuaries "in which nature is allowed to evolve in its own way, as it has done since the dawn of time. Each provides a haven, not only for plants and animals, but also for the human spirit." Also included are other public and private programs that preserve and protect wilderness areas.
