Adult Basic Education

Programs, usually offered by community adult schools or as evening classes at local high schools, that provide instruction in fundamental learning skills for adults who have never attended school or have interrupted formal schooling and need to raise their level of education to increase their self-confidence and/or prepare for an occupation. Emphasis is placed on basic reading, language and mathematics to strengthen functional skills in communication, computation and personal-social interaction.

 

Services

Offers services to develop literacy, numeracy, and essential skills to assist participants in transitioning to employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education, or independence.

Offers a range of education programs and services to help deaf and hard of hearing individuals and their families.

Programs include:

Literacy and basic skills training, including numeracy, digital, communication and interpersonal skills. Helps learners prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education and greater independence.

A program to help students qualify for admission to Mohawk College programs and assist in employment readiness. Focusing on raising Math, Science and English skills to the college-entry level and employment standards.

Provides individualized one-on-one lessons for adult students looking to learn skills in reading, math, computers, or spelling
