Hate Crimes Prevention

Programs that attempt to reduce the incidence of intimidation, property crimes and violence against individuals on the basis of their real or perceived race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability through a variety of educational interventions that focus on making people aware of the problem, encouraging people to actively condemn behaviours that promote hate crimes, and helping to develop cultural sensitivity in communities that are experiencing tension or where incidents have already occurred.

Website for the Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Centre, an independent non-profit corporation that provides support and referral services for racialized individuals experiencing racism.

Provides education about race, racism, discrimination, racial equality, and anti-racist theory and practice in Hamilton through workshops, programs, events, and by offering support services to the community.

A police unit specifically mandated to monitor and assist with investigations involving hate crimes.

Serving the Aboriginal, Faith, LGBTQ, and Newer Immigrant population, plus the wide-ranging diverse demographic of the city of Hamilton.
