Domestic Violence Shelters

Programs that provide temporary emergency shelter for individuals, primarily women, who have experienced domestic violence/abuse, and for their children. Such facilities usually provide in-house individual, group and family counselling and the full range of secondary services related to domestic violence including referral to appropriate resources. Also included are similar facilities for battered men and those that can accommodate both men and women, where they are available.

 

Services

Provides support for women and their children who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse.

 

Women's Centre of Hamilton Location.  Offers information, referrals and support services while advocating towards systemic and policy change for women and their communities.  Sign-up and drop-in groups also available.

Provides support for women and their children who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse.  Free emergency transportation is offered by taxi to Interval House. 

Services include:

Interval House of Hamilton Location.  A transition house and emergency shelter for abused women and their children, as well as programs for the children of residents.

This transitional housing and support program works to support women and their children who have experienced violence by connecting them with individualized services and supports within their communities. This program assists women and children to live violence/abuse free and to be safe.

A 20-bed emergency shelter for women that includes support programs addressing homelessness, poverty, mental illness, and domestic violence, as well as programs for the children of residents.

A secure, accessible, 40-bed emergency shelter for women who are experiencing homelessness and are fleeing violence and abuse, as well as programs for the children of residents.

An emergency shelter for women and children experiencing domestic abuse, as well as programs for the children of residents.

Offers transitional housing and support programs for up to 12 months for Indigneous women and children who are at risk of homelessness and poverty. The supportive housing facility is geared towards women and children who have been victims of violence.
