Alternate Format Libraries

Libraries that maintain collections of books, magazines and other materials in formats that are accessible to people who are unable to use regular printed materials because of a visual, physical, or other disability. Included are Braille materials; large print resources; captioned and/or described films, videos and DVDs; audio books; and other similar materials.

 

Services

Online website and catalogue for the Centre for Equitable Library Access, a non-profit organization that provides accessible format books, magazines, and newspapers for Canadians with print disabilities.

Supports public libraries in the provision of accessible collections for Canadians with print disabilities and champions the fundamental right of Canadians with print disabilities to access media and reading materials in the format of their choice, including audio, braille, e-text.
