Residential Recycling Programs

Community-sponsored voluntary or mandatory programs that encourage people in residential settings to recycle reusable resources such as newspaper, glass, plastic and metals such as aluminum, tin and steel which are found in cans. The program may supply recycling containers to participating households and may collect the recyclable materials on a regular basis.

A program that is offered to improve waste management by those living in houses in Hamilton, where a yellow recycling box is given to participants who sign up and meet the trash audit criteria.

Curbside pick-up of garbage, bulk items, yard waste, compostables, and recyclables in the City of Hamilton is managed by the Environmental Services Division of the Public Works Department.
