Artist in Residence Programs

Programs offered by schools, universities, arts councils, community centres and other similar organizations that provide an opportunity for writers, composers, visual artists, video and filmmakers, photographers, artisans, performers, historians and other persons to pursue their particular art in a supported environment. These programs typically provide studio facilities, living quarters, a venue for exhibition and/or performance for work created during the residency and a stipend for a specified period of time. In exchange, the artist is asked to serve as a resource to the organization's ongoing program and/or the community as a whole.
