Relapse Prevention Programs

Programs that provide structured therapy groups or other interventions which help recovering drug and/or excessive alcohol users make the cognitive, behavioural and attitudinal changes that are necessary to prevent them from returning to their previous patterns of use. The program helps participants deal in a very focused way with a wide variety of issues that have an impact on their commitment to sobriety and may include topics like exercise, nutrition, boredom, addictive behaviour, looking forward, work and recovery, guilt and shame, the role of 12-step programs, staying busy, truthfulness, trust, repairing relationships, anger management, money management and dealing with feelings.

 

Services

Provides support for males and transitional male youth experiencing alcohol or drug addition. Offers advocacy, counselling, education, and life skills building activities in a substance-free environment. Programs include:

A non-for-profit, community-based organization providing support for males and transitional male youth experiencing alcohol or drug addition.  Offers advocacy, counselling, education and life skills building activities in a substance free environment.  Part of the Shelter Health Network. 

Wayside House of Hamilton Location. A long-term residential addiction treatment facility for males and transitional male youth with a 20 bed capacity. Part of the Shelter Health Network. 

Womankind Addiction Service Location. A 26 bed facility located in west Hamilton where all women and woman-identified individuals are welcomed and assisted by a specially trained team to assess and define next steps regarding their substance use and recovery.

Provides a range of gender specific substance use programs, supporting women seeking change with their substance use.

Halton ADAPT offers programming for adults and youth to help with addictions to drugs, alcohol, and gambling.
