National Parks

Large areas of special scenic, historic or scientific importance that are set aside by the federal government and preserved in their natural state for public enjoyment and appreciation as well as for environmental study. Included are national preserves, areas having the same characteristics as national parks but in which the federal government has permitted public hunting, trapping, logging, and oil and gas exploration and extraction.
