Caverns/Caves

Programs that develop, preserve and make available to the public as scenic and/or recreational attractions natural underground chambers, most of which have special features such as stalactites and stalagmites (multicoloured crystalline formations resembling icicles which extend downwards from the roof or sides of a cavern or jut up from the cavern's floor), underground rivers and pools, interesting flora and fauna and areas where ladder climbing, pool crossings, tight crawls and free climbing are required. Some caverns/caves are inhabited by bats providing visitors with an opportunity to view "bat flights" at certain times of the day. Staff-guided tours are available in most instances.
