Errand Running/Shopping Assistance

Programs that offer the services of individuals who are available to make short trips to purchase groceries, pick up prescriptions, withdraw or deposit money in the bank, drop off or retrieve laundry and do other small tasks for older adults, people with disabilities and other individuals who cannot leave their homes or are otherwise unable or prefer not to perform these tasks for themselves.

 

Services

Offers shopping services every other week for Flamborough residents who are unable to get to the grocery store. Clients provide their grocery list and a volunteer will do their shopping and deliver their groceries to their home.

Supports vulnerable, isolated older adults and seniors 55+ experiencing hunger, homelessness and income insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes those who are living outside in temporary shelter.

Glanbrook Community Services provides participants with transportation services to medical appointments, dental appointments, errands, to visit friends, grocery and general shopping. Drivers will wait and can assist participants with purchases.

A free bus service for seniors to local grocery stores every two weeks for tenants in seniors' apartments. Pick-up locations are located throughout the city. Please call for details.

This is a partnership between Wesley, Danny's No Frills, Fortinos, and the HSR.

Caregiver program offering the opportunity for clients to share common experiences and foster relationships with companions who are close in age. Services include: drop-in companions, live-in companions, overnight assistance, house cleaners and driver companions.

Provides shopping services for seniors who are otherwise unable to get to the grocery store. Volunteers receive individualized grocery lists from the clients, shop in the store of the client's choice, and if required put the groceries away upon delivery.
