Indigenous Employment Programs

Programs that provide comprehensive support services for indigenous people who need assistance preparing for, finding and retaining paid employment. Services may include vocational assessment, job search assistance and other levels of initial and ongoing support. Included are specific federal incentive programs such as the Aboriginal Workforce Participation Initiative in addition to economic resource development projects in which approval is dependant on commitments that ensure the employment of First Nations for Inuit people.

Program that supports urban Indigenous youth to gain education, experience, and skills to improve employability and/or achieve and maintain meaningful employment.

Program includes:

  • Skills Enhancements
  • Stay in School Initiative

Provides navigation and support to urban Indigenous youth who are unemployed or underemployed and ready to gain confidence and skills with their career goals.

Services include:

Hamilton office of NPAAMB.

A not-for-profit organization specializing in employment training solutions and stay-in-school initiatives for urban Indigenous youth.

Offers culturally relevant approaches to help develop action plans with an employment counsellor to identify employment and training goals such as securing employment or self-employment, returning to school, staying in school, and improving overall employability.
