Childbirth Education

Programs that offer classes or other educational experiences which prepare prospective mothers and their birth partners emotionally and physically for the labour and birth process. Topics covered include anatomy and physiology of birth, relaxation and breathing techniques, different types of labours, birthing/delivery options and postpartum care. Also included are programs that prepare other members of the family (grandparents and siblings) for the arrival of a new family member.

 

Services

Provides full-spectrum reproductive doula care, including birth and postpartum support. Working with a doula increases access to information, services, and resources that build confidence and provide individualized support. 

A free, online program for new or expectant parents, that can be done at their own pace using a computer or mobile device. Topics covered:

  • breastfeeding
  • newborn care

Encourages and promotes healthy pregnancies for Aboriginal mothers and their babies, offering culturally appropriate support for babies up to 6 months of age and their families by improving maternal infant care, promoting healthy birth weights, and overall better health promotion for expecting mo
