Patient/Family Support Services

Programs that provide support services for patients and their families. Included are offices in hospitals or medical clinics that provide advocacy, social work services, or assistance related to admissions or billing; temporary housing for patients/families; mercy flights; morale boosting activities; and other services that support the ability of patients and their families to cope with illness.

 

Services

The transportation program offers low cost, twice per month transportation for visitors to the Federal penitentiaries in Kingston and Warkworth areas. This is operated primarily by volunteers.

The family support program provides support, information, early intervention and referral to other services for parents with youth ages 12 to 17 who are experiencing parenting challenges or parent/child conflicts.

An arms-length provincial program of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, providing independent and confidential advocacy services and rights advice to consumers of, and those seeking access to, psychiatric services.
