Evaluation for Assistive Technology

Programs that assess the current ability to function of people who have disabilities and prescribe or recommend the most appropriate assistive technology product to meet their individual needs including communication/learning aids, control and signaling aids, daily living aids, hearing augmentation aids, mobility aids, prosthetic/orthotic/seating devices, recreational aids, speech aids and/or visual/reading aids.

West mountain location of Connect Hearing in Hamilton.

Provides home assessments and recommendations at no cost to help seniors remain safe and independent in their homes, and falls prevention education program to both seniors and caregivers.

Safety at Home services include:

Provides education on hearing loss, tinnitus, and hearing aid technology to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as free hearing tests for clients aged 50+. Also offers sales of hearing aids, batteries, and hearing protection.

Serves children and adults with neurological, developmental, or multiple disabilities by facilitating the communication of individuals who are not able to write due to a long-term physical disability or whose speech does not meet all of their communication needs.

Fits, designs, and manufactures custom prosthetics and orthotics. Services provided include:

  • assessment, casting, fitting, and follow-ups for new devices
  • existing device repair
  • financial assistance services
  • customization/design
