Assists people to explore and fulfill life expectations beyond psychiatric stabilization and health maintenance using a "partners in well-being" approach. Oversees 9 independently-owned residential homes in urban and rural settings and operates day programs in 2 skills centres as a provider within the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care residential care program for adults with serious mental illnesses. Part of the Schizophrenia & Community Integration Service.
Skills Centre programs are developed according to requests and/or needs identified by participants and may be prevocational, avocational, or related to life skills, or recreational social activity. Helps participants acquire transferable skills, achieve optimum level of functioning and well-being, and integrate into community.
