Hamilton Fire Department, Fire Prevention and Inspection Services

Responsible for the inspection of all buildings in the city, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation, and for the promotion of fire-safe practices for the community.

From May through the end of August, Hamilton Fire Department firefighters will be in neighbourhoods across the City knocking on doors to conduct home fire safety visits, covering common home fire safety hazards, corrective/preventative measures, and testing/installing smoke alarms. Alternately, homeowners can request the Hamilton Fire Department to attend their home to conduct a free inspection for potential fire hazards.
