Hamilton Fire Department, Fire Prevention and Inspection Services

Responsible for the inspection of all buildings in the city, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation, and for the promotion of fire-safe practices for the community. Upon request, the Hamilton Fire Department will conduct paid inspections of daycares, foster homes, group homes, residential, and commercial buildings. 

Hamilton Fire Department firefighters also conduct home fire safety visits, knocking on doors in neighbourhoods across the City. They cover common home fire safety hazards, corrective/preventative measures, and testing/installing smoke alarms.
