Program of the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services that provides public information and advice on consumer rights and responsibilities, complaints, and consumer protection legislation.

Services include:

  • answers telephone inquiries
  • investigates Consumer Rights complaints
  • mediates written complaints between consumers and businesses
  • advises in cases of identity theft

Under the national Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP), the Government of Canada helps Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs) when they first arrive in Canada by providing direct financial support, and funding the provision of immediate and essential services. Wesley delivers RAP immediate and essential services to clients generally within four to six weeks of arrival in Canada.

These services include:

Assists homeless people in Hamilton with replacement of birth certificates. In some cases staff can also help with form completion, provide information and referral relating to government identification, access limited subsidy toward the cost of replacing a birth certificate, and advocate where needed.  A government-issued identification is often a necessary step in accessing health and income-support programs such as OW, ODSP and EI.
