Programs providing support for those seeking employment. 

Services include:

Second Career Program:

Employment resources and coaching to find sustainable employment in Ontario:

  • assessment of skills, interests and abilities

  • job search strategies and support, including resume development and interview preparation

  • information about careers and occupations, local labour market, employment opportunities

  • help in maintaining employment

Provides temporary regular financial benefits to individuals who lose their jobs through no fault of their own (for example, due to shortage of work, seasonal or mass lay-offs) and are available for and able to work, but can't find a job; able-bodied claimants must be seeking employment to remain eligible. 

Applications should be submitted as soon as employment ends. Individuals can apply for benefits even if they have not yet received their Record of Employment (ROE)

Offers free income tax preparation assistance for individuals and families with a low income.

Volunteers are not able to prepare returns for individuals who have

  • self-employment income
  • a business or rental income and expenses
  • capital gains or losses
  • employment expenses
  • file for bankruptcy
  • are deceased within the year

Connects student employees with prospective employers. Seminars occasionally provided on career planning, job placement skills, resume writing, interview tips, and work etiquette.

Supported by Service Canada and the Rotary Club of Waterdown.

 

Provides door-to-door transportation service to individuals who are unable to use regular public transit due to a disability.  Participants must register with Accessible Transportation Services (ATS), a department of the Hamilton Street Railway (HSR).  Employs wheelchair accessible buses, vans, motor vehicles and contracted taxi services when appropriate and operates under contract to ATS.
