Affordable Transit Pass

Provides half price monthly bus passes for eligible individuals. If the application is approved, the Affordable Transit Pass will be set up on a PRESTO card. Monthly passes can then be purchased at the discounted rate at any location and loaded onto the PRESTO card. There is a limited number of passes available, sold on a first come, first serve basis.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Affordable Transit Pass program, applicants must:

  • live in the City of Hamilton.
  • currently work in a full time, part time, or casual position. This does not include those who are self-employed.
  • be between the ages of 18 to 64 years.
  • receive assistance from Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program but do not receive transportation costs for other activities (such as medical transportation);
    OR
    has a family income which falls below the current Statistics Canada Low-Income Measurement (LIM) for their family size.

Application Instructions

Fill out the Affordable Transit Pass application form (found online). Submit the form along with last year's Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency and four recent consecutive pay stubs. Participants in Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support program can submit employment and earning information from their case manager.
