YWCA Hamilton Opportunities Program

Offers support for persons with self-disclosed disabilities to prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment. Includes one-on-one, group coaching and work placements. Participants are trained in job-specific skills, including:

  • soft skills, such as communication, time management, and self esteem
  • job-specific requirements, including health and safety, WHMIS, AODA, first aid/CPR, and financial literacy
  • Smart Serve and safe food handling

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • a person with a self-disclosed disability
  • legally entitled to work in Ontario
  • not eligible for EI benefits or related services/programs
  • a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
